Gisela and I met as first year students at the Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography (we won’t say how many years ago) 😉. And we have been friends ever since. She is a dear friend to both James and I, and a very talented human - not just through the hugely inspiring (and delicious) business she has built in Harck & Heart, but in every meal she has ever prepared for her loved ones. Gisela made our delicious wedding cake too (the best carrot cake you will ever eat)! But this is the time to talk about why Harck & Heart gingerbread is the best in the world. And not just because our friend makes them 🥰.

Harck & Heart’s gingerbread has been bringing joy to families since its start. I cannot imagine a Christmas without them now. I have kept a critical eye out whenever I spot competitors both in South Africa and in the UK and I can confidently say I haven’t found anything that comes close. Hence why I fill both James and my suitcases with gingerbread every time we visit home!

They are a wonderful gift, tree decoration, place setting - but most importantly they are to be shared and enjoyed. We have many happy memories sharing the joy of these biscuits. From building one of the H&H gingerbread houses with Luca, Paolo and Siena one Joburg visit; to Thomas and Ella decorating their own Santa cookies in the Netherlands last Christmas.

We love gifting H&H gingerbread to friends and family of all ages for special occasions throughout the year (not just Christmas). I cannot recommend them highly enough. And if you are not a gingerbread fan, then the chocolate chip cookies are seriously moreish too - don’t buy one box, buy two… trust me! 🍪🍪It just wouldn’t be Christmas without Harck & Heart gingerbread.
